Ferrovial Services Spain participated in the La Rioja Innova Forum at the La Rioja Technology Centre where they discussed smart cities and urban innovation. 
Ferrovial Services, through Ferrovial Services Spain and the Centre of Excellence for Cities, has recently participated in the La Rioja Innova Forum held at the La Rioja Technology Centre in Logroño. During this event discussions were held on the opportunities offered by the Horizon 2020 EU funding program and the development of smart cities, among other issues. Participants, including representatives of the municipalities of Santander and Logroño, as well as the Government of La Rioja and the RECI (Spanish Network of Smart Cities), agreed on the importance of urban innovation for sustainable growth.

Innovative solutions for cities

Ferrovial Services participated in the panel discussion entitled "European Smart Cities, the standard of the smart city and the European digital agenda", which set out its approach to urban innovation. It highlighted practical examples of collaborative innovation programs such as Madrid Smart Lab, Santander City Lab and Madrid Smart Parking. Rafael Fernández, Spain Projects Manager at the Centre of Excellence for Cities, explained that "Innovation in urban services is critical to transform cities: improving both efficiency and public experience." It also stressed that "the strategic partnership between the main urban agents accelerates the transformation of cities."
