Ferrovial Serviços, the Portuguese subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, has been awarded the municipal solid waste collection and street cleaning contract in the town of Tarouca. The concession is for 3 years. The contract covers waste collection in Tarouca city and its districts, bin cleaning, manual and mechanical scanning, verge and ditch cleaning, and weed removal. Tarouca is a city in Portugal's Viseu district, in the transition area between Beiras and Alto Douro. The municipality covers an area of 100.08 square kilometres, with a population of 8,948 people (2011 data). The company expect to collect about 2,300 tons of solid waste per year in the area.

Two new garden maintenance contracts

Ferrovial Serviços’s contract with Odivelas City Council for green area maintenance was extended for another year, with the possibility of two additional years. The company has been working in this city for 10 years, providing the following services: garden construction and maintenance, waste cleaning and removal, watering system maintenance, pruning of trees and bushes, forest and scrub clearing, hedge pruning, and maintenance of lawns, meadows, trees, paved and unpaved roads and other structures. In addition to this contract, the city council of Lagos, in Algarve, extended the green area maintenance contract in the new area of the city for six months, strengthening Ferrovial Services' presence in southern Portugal.

Recent contracts in Portugal

These new contracts reinforce the capacities, quality and commitment of FS and its professionals in order to fulfil clients' needs and expectations. Ferrovial Services' Portuguese subsidiary was awarded, among others, the cleaning and waste management service in Matosinhos fishing port and the solid waste collection, street cleaning, and bin disinfection and maintenance contract in the city of Arouca. A few months ago, the Portuguese company also landed the cleaning contract for the Lisbon Cancer Hospital and was selected by Volkswagen (VW) to advise its infrastructure team in the supervision of all non-production outsourcing contracts at Autoeuropa, its Portuguese factory.
