Ferrovial Serviços, the Portuguese subsidiary of
Ferrovial Services, has recently been chosen by the Vouzela Town Council to manage the energy efficiency and integrated services delivery of street lighting in the municipality. This energy services contract includes the
upgrading of 6,764 light points within the public lighting network to LED technology.
The use of LED technology will provide a
70% reduction in the energy consumption within this municipality of the Viseu district over the
12 years of the contract, and will also
reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to energy and financial savings, the new LED lighting has other benefits such as better lighting quality and lower impact on colours, thereby providing a greater sense of security for residents.
Ferrovial Serviços invests in a new environmentally friendly car
Maia Town Council has purchased the
ampliroll car, which runs on compressed natural gas, from
Ferrovial Services. This green vehicle will be used for door-to-door waste collection, with a substantial reduction in emissions of both polluting gases and noise. Additionally, vehicles of this type require less maintenance and have a longer working life, thus providing a
more efficient service for this Porto district municipality.
Ferrovial in Portugal provides municipal and industrial services, including waste treatment and management, as well as management and maintenance of infrastructures and green areas. Ferrovial Serviços is one of the largest privately-owned waste management companies in Portugal, providing a broad range of services to public- and private-sector clients in the municipalities of Planalto Beirão, Maia and Oeiras.
