This programme allows startups to visit Ferrovial Services’ waste collection and street cleaning contract in Barcelona, in order to provide innovative proposals for improvement
Ferrovial Innovation Discovery Days is a Ferrovial initiative developed by the company’s Innovation and Business Processes Department within the framework of the Barcelona Startup Week, which has identified innovative solutions from amongst a total of 2,200 participating entrepreneurs.
Following an initial shortlist, the programme allowed startups to visit Ferrovial’s waste collection and street cleaning contract in Barcelona in order to come up with innovative proposals for improvement of the services provided to Barcelona City Council.
Xavier Mauri, manager of Ferrovial Services Spain’s waste collection and street cleaning contract in Barcelona, explained that “this initiative has provided a link between the day-to-day work of the service and the entrepreneurial environment of the Barcelona Startup Week, thus speeding up the emergence of innovative, digital improvements for the Barcelona contract”.
The companies submitting proposals were:
- Crea Idea Lab, with “the hat”.
- Xifring, which submitted “fermapvial”.
- Cantera Tech, with an urban services management platform.
During the event, the judging panel assessed the project proposals from the shortlisted companies, and subsequently awarded the relevant diplomas.
