Ferrovial Services, through its British subsidiary Amey, is going to install smart gas and electricity meters for EDF in Scotland and the Northeast and East of England over the next four years, for 40 million pounds (about 50 million euros). Amey already won a similar contract in July last year with npower. With these projects, Ferrovial Services' subsidiary is an active part of the programme that the UK government has started up, whereby every home in the country will have meter by 2020 that makes it easier to see how much they are using. Amey has already installed more than 90,000 smart meters. The company is working closely with suppliers, with whom it tests new technology before implementing it, and has given its employees the necessary training.
