Ferrovial's highways drive more than $22 billion in economic impact in the US

News

Ferrovial, a global leader in infrastructure solutions, has generated billions of dollars in the US through its managed-lane highway business. Ferrovial’s Economic and Social Impact Study, conducted in partnership with the Steer consulting firm, concluded that the company’s highway projects have generated $22.6 billion in economic impact in the US through 2021.

The report also found that Ferrovial’s managed-highway projects have created 119,000 Full Time Equivalent job years in the US. This includes the use of local subcontractors and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) firms where the company’s projects are located.

“Ferrovial is committed to investing in America’s infrastructure and serves as an economic engine during the construction process and beyond. Our projects have brought relief to some of the nation’s most congested corridors, enabling businesses to thrive, expand, and relocate where the impact is greatest.”

Ferrovial, through its subsidiary Cintra, now has five managed-highway projects across the US: LBJ Express (LBJ), North Tarrant Express (NTE) & NTE 35W, in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; I-77 Express, in Charlotte, North Carolina; and I-66 Express, in Northern Virginia. The I-66 Express Lanes opened in November 2022 and is one of the largest public-private partnership (P3) road infrastructure projects in the United States.

Based in Austin, Texas, Ferrovial’s businesses in the US span transportation infrastructure, construction, waterworks, and energy. The company recently reported strong growth in North America and plans to apply for listing in the US by yearend 2023.
