Heathrow Airport reports best November to date

Heathrow Airport have announced that this November has been the best they have ever had. During this month, the airport saw an impressive 5.72 million passengers, which is a 2.5% increase on last year. They also experienced a 4.4% growth in cargo volumes, which reached 138,050 tonnes. This positive result demonstrates how trading opportunities for British exporters are continually growing, as much of this cargo was to fast-growing markets, e.g. (China, up 10%, Turkey up 10.4%, Brazil up 5.66% and Mexico up 7.3%). In addition, traffic from these emerging markets has also increased by 8%, proving that the demand to fly from the UK is still high. In terms of the aircraft, an introduction of bigger planes which are more efficient (such as the Airbus A380s, A350s and Boeing 787s) has also had an impact on results, as there has been a 0.7% increase on passenger volumes compared to the figure this time last year. Thinking ahead to next year, Heathrow have appointed design contracts to seven companies who will provide plans for the airport´s upcoming expansion, ensuring that a modern yet sustainable result.
