The NGOs Chosen by Employees Sign Collaboration Agreements with Ferrovial

Representatives from CODESPA, Ojos del Mundo, and Aldeas Infantiles explained the projects that employee donors and the company are financing through the program Juntos Sumamos.

The ceremony was led by María Dionis, General Director of Human Resources, and Francisco Polo, Director of Communication and Corporate Responsibility, both speaking on Ferrovial’s behalf. The following individuals spoke on behalf of the NGOs to explain the projects in first person: Reyes Escolano Mena, owner and spokesperson for the Codespa Foundation’s Executive Committee; Luis Alberto Ramasco, Director of Public Image and Fundraising for Aldeas Infantiles; and Nuria Ramón García, General Director of Ojos del Mundo.

The employee donors that attended the signing had the opportunity to speak with representatives from the NGOs to get to know the projects firsthand, as well as the work their organizations are doing.

For 2018, Ferrovial and its employees managed to collect a total of €99,961.40. This sum will finance these initiatives in their entirety throughout 2019:

  1. CODESPA Foundation

    €36,305

  2. Aldeas Infantiles

    €48,995.90

  3. Ojos del Mundo's project

    €14,660.50

Every year since Juntos Sumamos was started in 2005, the company and its employees have supported different initiatives geared toward improving the situation of those at risk of social exclusion. As of today, the program has managed to collect more than €1 million, and 12% of all employees are currently donors.

A program for Reintroducing Children and Youth Who Were Victims of Prison Violence in Goma, DR Congo

The project will provide integral support for 170 children who were victims of prison violence in Goma. CODESPA, in collaboration with Children’s Voice and the Goma prisons, has designed a re-education program so that these imprisoned children can live together peacefully.

“A Home for Each Child”

The general objective is fostering the well-being, growth, and development of the children admitted. To do so, Aldeas Infantiles SOS’s Home 9 in Aldea de Redondela, Galicia, is going to be renovated and air-conditioned.

Bringing light back to boys and girls from Inhambane, Mozambique

The project will do vision testing for 10,000 primary school students in Inhambane in the framework of campaigns for preventing eye diseases. Around 750 children will need ophthalmological care, and, of those, 200 will need glasses, which will be made in the optician’s workshop created by Ojos del Mundo.

13 years of improving living conditions for vulnerable individuals

Since its creation in 2005, the program ‘Juntos Sumamos’ has shared in the commitment held by Ferrovial and its employees to improve living conditions for individuals at risk of social vulnerability. The program aims to support projects carried out by NGOs that focus on international cooperation for development, social action in Spain, and the conservation of natural capital and biodiversity.

The program’s budget corresponds to the amounts donated by Ferrovial’s employees through their salaries plus the company’s contribution, which matches the amount collected by employees. That way, employees’ contributions are worth double.
