At an event held at the residence of the British ambassador, Hugh Elliott, Rafael del Pino, chairman of Ferrovial, was presented with the insignia of Honorary Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, an honor granted in June by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
It was granted for services to the transport and infrastructure industry in the United Kingdom. The honor was part of the Jubilee Honours List on the occasion of the celebration last June of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, after completing 70 years as head of state.
Ferrovial has carried out numerous projects in the United Kingdom, including the Elizabeth Line, named in honor of the Queen, which crosses the Greater London area from east to west and was inaugurated last May. The company is currently developing the Silvertown tunnel, the Thames Tideway Tunnel, and a section of the HS2 high speed rail line, among others.
