On April 13 and 14, The Ruta del Cacao highway donated 530 batches of staple products valued at over €7,000 to the most vulnerable families in the area around it.
This concession brings them into the fight to halt the spread of COVID-19 during the mandatory period of preventive isolation declared by the Government of Colombia.
“In these difficult times of quarantine is when our organization must continue to show its involvement in the project's communities”
This donation began with a process of identifying the most vulnerable families in this health emergency. This process was completed with supportive collaboration between the concession, local authorities, and the leaders of the municipalities, towns, and communities around the project.
The 530 lots were delivered to the neediest families by community leaders. These areas included: La Playa, the populated heart of the municipality of Betulia; the towns of San Silvestre, La Marta, Gran Venecia in the municipality of Girón; the towns of La Girona, Uribe Uribe, Canoas, Cerro Aurora, Líbano, Cristales, Lisboa, Angelinos Bajos, Angelinos Alto, Portugal, La Cuchilla, Mirabel, San Benito, San Nicolas Alto, San Nicolas Bajo y Santo Domingo in the municipality of Lebrija, which are part of the area impacted by the Project.
True to its commitment, the Ruta del Cacao highway is working to support its community and its users, following the recommended preventive measures and guaranteeing the corridor’s operation to ensure transportation for food, medicines, and basic necessities during the isolation declared by the national government.
