At the prize-giving ceremony for the awards organised by the enerTIC platform, the Ferrovial Light for GLASS Project, led by Ferrovial Servicios, in collaboration with the Ferrovial Corporation Innovation and Business Processes department, won the award for best innovation project in the Smart Industry category.
Ferrovial has taken the title of best innovation project in the Smart Industry category of the enerTIC Awards for its Ferrovial Light for GLASS project, led by Ferrovial Services. Among the proposals put forward, the awards recognise those that have made best use of ICT to attain improved energy efficiency.
The event, which took place at the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and the Information Society, was attended by more than 150 business leaders and senior management from the Public Administration, including: the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Víctor Calvo-Sotelo; Iñigo de la Serna, the Mayor of Santander; and Enrique Martínez, the Coordinator of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism’s National Intelligent Cities Plan. Representing Ferrovial Servicios to receive the award was Salvador Urquía, Director of Infrastructures.
Other organisations to win awards included Santander City Council, Telefónica, ENDESA, CEPSA and Gas Natural Fenosa.
The Ferrovial Light for GLASS project
Ferrovial Servicios, through their Centre for Infrastructure Excellence, along with the Ferrovial Corporation’s Innovation Department, have developed Ferrovial Light for GLASS.
This innovative technology introduces the use of the wearable device Google Glass, which through an app which is installed on it allows any user to carry out corrective and preventive maintenance work, component inventories and the reporting of incidents, all in real and integrated time using Onvia 60 Lighting, an inventory management platform for road and urban infrastructures This project is being carried out as part of the public lighting contract in Torrejón de Ardoz, which is being managed by Ferrovial Servicios. Furthermore, the Company is developing other initiatives with Google Glass technology in the facility management and security sector.
EnerTIC
EnerTIC is the business platform driving improvement in energy efficiency through the use of ICT. Its mission is to “Contribute to developing the transformative potential of Information and Communications Technology in the field of energy efficiency, in order to promote a more competitive and sustainable economy”. Through the platform work is carried out, both in the Public and Private Sectors, in driving initiatives and activities to raise awareness of, promote and popularise ICT, as well as to encourage cross-organisational collaboration to promote the use of ICT to improve the energy competitiveness of individuals, technological infrastructures, spaces and buildings.
The enerTIC Technical Committee, along with experts from associated organisations and from its Institutional Collaboration Network, selected the award-winners from the more than 70 projects entered in each category. Subsequently, each winner was chosen by anonymous users through the website enerTIC.org, which received more than 5,000 votes.
