Webber, Ferrovial’s Texas based construction subsidiary, has been named 2018 Contractor of the Year for the Texas and Louisiana region by ENR (Engineering News Record), the online engineering and construction publication. The company was awarded for its project portfolio, regional growth and expansion efforts among other achievements.
The publication was also impressed by Webber’s commitment to helping the city of Houston recover from 2017’s Hurricane Harvey. The company doubled funds raised by employees and contributed payroll to those employees unable to work during the storm. The firm also took part in repair efforts after the devastation, including helping to reset concrete traffic barriers shifted by flood waters and replacing sections of barriers damaged beyond repair.
All of Webber’s TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) projects are on time or ahead of schedule and three of the contractor’s projects also made it onto ENR’s Texas/Louisiana 2017 Top Project starts list: Grand Parkway, US 281 and I-45.
Strong growth was seen in the commercial and waterworks division as well as Webber’s material division, which helped recycle almost 1.5 million tons of construction waste in the Houston area that would have otherwise been destined for Texas landfills.
