We have been tapped for the twelfth time in a row to belong to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). We are the only Spanish company in our industry to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainable Index World.
Inclusion in the index is a recognition of Ferrovial’s sound sustainability strategy and accredits the company’s development of advanced practices in the three dimensions of corporate responsibility: economic, environmental and social.
The company improved its score in the environmental dimension in nearly all aspects. It performed particularly well in the areas of resource conservation and
efficiency, operational eco-efficiency and environmental reporting. In the social dimension, we also scored highly in corporate citizenship and philanthropy. These results are a tribute to the hard work to attain the goals of the Corporate Responsibility Strategic Plan (Plan 20.13).
The company was included in the DJSI for the first time in 2002, when it was the only Spanish company in its industry to be included. Ferrovial signed the Global Compact that same year; it was one of the first Spanish companies to do so.
In 2005, the company continued to develop its Corporate Responsibility strategy and was chosen for the prestigious FTSE4Good index. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index has become one of the world’s leading benchmarks for sustainable companies since its creation in 1999.
Of the universe of approximately 2,500 companies in the Dow Jones Global Index, only about 10% qualify for the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, based on an exhaustive analysis performed by RobecoSAM.
