Ferrovial will grant up to 250,000 euro to development projects which provide access to water and sewage infrastructure in Africa and Latin America. The company will also provide technical assistance and expert support in project implementation. The deadline for applications is one month from the publication of the rules.
Ferrovial is now accepting applications from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for participation in the company’s Social Infrastructure international aid program. This initiative aims to palliate the imbalances and lack of water and sewage infrastructure in vulnerable communities in rural and urban areas of Latin America and Africa.
Ferrovial will grant up to 250,000 euro to selected projects. It will also provide technical and technological assistance and expertise in infrastructure development: company volunteers will contribute their experience and knowledge by advising NGOs, both on site and from Ferrovial’s offices. Every year, at least six Ferrovial volunteers travel to the project site for 15 days with a view to improving project efficiency and passing on to communities the knowledge to keep the installations operational after the project is completed.
NGOs that wish to participate may submit their projects for access to drinking water and sewage infrastructure before the deadline (one month after being announced). Candidates must be headquartered in Spain and have at least three years’ experience in the area where they operate. The maximum execution period for projects is two years.

Water infrastructure in Peru and Tanzania
As part of this program, Ferrovial is currently working with Plan España to develop a drinking water and sewage system in four communities of the Olmedo Canton, in Cajamarca, one of the poorest regions of Peru. This project, which will be executed over 24 months, will ensure direct access to basic drinking water and sewage systems for 2,225 people and indirect access for 26,000.
In Tanzania, where Ferrovial has extensive experience in this type of project (following the Maji ni UhaiWater is Life initiative), the company is working with ONGAWA to establish sustainable water supply systems in Kata de Maore, in Same district of northern Tanzania. This project, with an execution period of 12 months, will benefit 13,600 people directly and 48,800 indirectly.
