Ferrovial Agroman UK and Ireland have won the Infrastructure and Overall Award of the 32nd Irish Concrete Society Prize.

The Irish Concrete Society Awards are one of the most prestigious honours in the Construction Sector covering 4 different categories; infrastructure, building, sustainability and elemental.

Ferrovial Agroman received the Infrastructure award and the overall Winner Award for the River Erne Bridge, beating 22 other projects.

On judging the awards, the jury noted: “This is an exceptional bridge design, beautifully executed with cutting edge engineering design concepts. With its slender concrete deck and double curved concrete soffit, the bridge effortlessly spans the main body of the river. The quality of detailing throughout and the finish on the double curved concrete soffit in particular is hugely impressive.“

The 142m cable stayed extradosed bridge is also the first of its type built in the country, combining the efficiencies generated in traditional prestressed concrete and the use of shallow angled extrados cables.
