The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has awarded Webber four contracts with a combined value of $340 million. The projects include expansion of existing roads in Kaufman, Denton, Collin and Comal counties.

The scope of work for the Kaufman County project will consist of the widening of U.S. 80 from four to six main lanes and reconstructing the frontage roads. It also includes the replacements of bridges and approaches. The $119.5 million project will extend 2.19 miles from Lawson Road to FM 460 on U.S. 80. Construction is set to begin in November 2022 and is estimated to finish in Fall 2025.

The Denton County project will take place at IH 35 and FM 455 and involves the reconstruction and widening from four to six main lanes, reconstruction of the existing four lane frontage roads and the reconstruction and widening of the two-lane rural highway to a four-lane divided urban road. The $111 million project will begin construction in late 2022 and completion is expected in mid-2025.

The Collin County project is located at FM 2514 and Parker Road and will consist of the widening from the actual two-lane rural road to a four-lane urban divided highway. The $50.4 million project will be 4.5 miles long, stretching from East of Lavon Parkway to Brown Street. This project will start in late 2022 and is estimated to be finished in early 2025.

The Comal SH 46 project in Bulverde, TX will be a 2.5-mile expansion of State Highway 46, between Far Hills Drive to Bentwood Drive. The scope of the project will include the upgrading of a two-lane roadway to a six-lane roadway with a raised median, or a center left turn lane. There will be substantial storm drain improvements along with joint-bid gas line relocations. The $59.5 million project will begin in October 2022 and is expected to be completed in Summer 2025.

“These major projects will increase capacity and improve mobility and safety in four Texas counties. We are excited to have won these contracts in July. Our North Texas and Central Texas Heavy Civil teams will be very busy in the coming months.”
