Ferrovial Services recently secured the street cleaning contract in the municipality of Etxebarri, Bizkaia in the Basque Country for a duration of six years.
This is the City Council’s most important contract in terms of its amount and impact, which includes an increase in quality of cleanliness in the municipality. The new contract will start in 2019, has an annual cost of €1,098,000, and can be extended for two additional years.
Among the service’s primary innovations are cleaning services for the entire municipality from Monday to Saturday, while the most highly trafficked areas in the town will be serviced on Sundays. School courtyards will also be cleaned 7 days a week.
Ferrovial Services will perform special cleanings, as part of the contract, for holidays, fairs, and general public events; act in cases of emergency for snowfall or heavy frost; remove graffiti and gum from public areas; and take down advertisements posted on street lamps and street furniture.
Another great improvement is the renovation of all the equipment that the service offers. As such, contract operators will soon begin using a new sweeper for sidewalks and roads; multifunction equipment; a brigade vehicle with an open chassis, a platform, and a hydrocleaner; an 8 m3 truck tank with a high-pressure pump; an inspection vehicle; six hub carriers for manual sweeping; and an electric blower.
With this contract, Ferrovial Services continues to be a leader in roadway cleaning, as it currently holds contracts for this type of service with more than a dozen municipalities in the Basque Country, including Getxo, Basauri, Santurtzi, Durango, Arrasate-Mondragon, and Amurrio.
