Infrastructures and services which help protect the environment

News

From electric cars in Oxford to tunnels that respect the habitat of the endangered brown bear in Asturias and Cantabria; airport terminals in London that use less energy and produce less waste; even landfills that generate electricity in Madrid and Murcia out of household waste. These are just a few examples of Ferrovial's commitment to the defense of the environment. This commitment can be seen in the multiple projects that aim to reduce the impact and the risks associated with the group's activities, combating climate change and helping preserve biodiversity. The company continuously assesses the environmental aspects of its business activities and performance in fulfilling specific objectives. The data are sent to company executives, so that environmental management does not form an additional element to the daily management of the company, but becomes a decisive element in the decision-making process. Ferrovial is actively involved in several forums that work to create a more sustainable future for the world. Together with its subsidiary BAA, the company recently signed the Poznan Communiqué, in which 140 business leaders called on governments to set ambitious and realistic targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as clearer guidelines around the regulatory framework. The Poznan Communiqué is a continuation of the Bali Declaration, signed in 2007. The common goal of reducing the environmental risks and impacts can be seen in each of the divisions and group companies in specific projects. Click on the examples at the top of this page, and take the time to get to know a little more about some of the group's activities. Further Information
