- It will allow passengers to check–in online and scan their boarding pass from the mobile phone in the terminal kiosks.
- Another measure consists on electrostatic spraying of all aircraft prior to departure
United Airlines is the first airline to introduce touchless technology in the check-in process at Heathrow Airport.
This measure seeks to reduce touchpoints at the airport terminals, thus minimising the risk of contagion in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This technology allows passengers to check–in online and then scan their boarding pass from the mobile phone in the terminal kiosks, without having to touch any surface. Theses kiosks will automatically print out any luggage tags associated with the booking. Customers can also self-scan their boarding passes at Heathrow gate readers for a more sanitised experience.
Another measure implemented by United consists on electrostatic spraying of all aircraft prior to departure from London Heathrow, enabling efficient coverage of all surfaces, like overhead bins, seats, tray tables, screens, window shades and air vents.
