On January 29, Ferrovial received the award in the communication and marketing category for the El Salado, Peace Through Water campaign.
Los Premios Digitales de El Español (The El Español Digital Awards) seek to promote the best projects in the field of digital transformation, and they recognized the effort made by Ferrovial’s communication campaign, which is reflected in a graphic novel about the rebirth of the community of El Salado through the experiences of some of its inhabitants.
The award was presented to Juan Francisco Polo, Ferrovial’s Director of Communication and CSR at the ISDI headquarters in Madrid. Carme Artigas, the new Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, was also in attendance, along with other pioneers in digital transformation.
About El Salado’s communication project
Within the CSR campaign Social Infrastructures and along with Ayuda en Acción and the Semana Foundation, Ferrovial has been involved in the recovery and reconstruction of El Salado after the conflict that devastated the Colombian community, forcing residents to leave their homes. With the project “drinking water for a decent life,” many of its residentswere able to return to work on rebuilding the place, improving the availability of and access to good-quality water by installing a solar photovoltaic pumping system and implementing an organizational structure for its maintenance and development.
After the success of the recovery project, the company wanted to raise awareness for the initiative as an example of reconstruction and peace in Colombia by giving survivors a platform. To do so, the communication campaign “El Salado, Peace through Water” was created, with the objective of recounting each of their true stories in a graphic novel that tells the story of El Salado.
The campaign has received several awards, such as the European Excellence Awards, the Dircom Awards, the Iberdrola Awards, and reviews in media.
