Madrid, December 12, 2018. The 2018 Enertic Awards ceremony gala took place today at the Office of State for digital advancement in the Ministry of Economy and Business. The EnerTIC Awards are in their sixth year, awarding innovation and technology for energy efficiency in the digital age. This year, Ferrovial’s commitment to innovation has received two awards: one for the project optimizing urban waste management through connected vehicles, and another as an outstanding partner for its participation in the renovation project for lighting in the city of Badajoz.

Ferrovial Services was declared winner in the ‘Smart Vehicle’ category for its solution to connect the entire fleet of vehicles. Thanks to this connectivity, data on positioning, routes, consumption, accidents, and driver behavior can be collected in real time. Moreover, all of this information will be available through our IoT Platform for any System that may be in use at the company and that wishes to use this data to improve operations. All of this information will allow us to set efficient driving policies, which will mean a reduction in energy use and maintenance costs, as well as an increase in safety. The initiative was driven by Ferrovial Services, along with Telefónica and Geotab as outstanding tech partners. José María Iglesias Vilan, head of Machinery and of the Fleet at the company in Spain, was present to receive the award in the ‘Smart Vehicle’ Category.

The renovation project for lighting in the city of Badajoz was awarded in the ‘Smart Lighting’ category. This initiative is supported by the area’s City Council and is considered an outstanding tech partner at Ferrovial Services. The project has studied updating all street lighting and decorative lighting in the city of Badajoz, with more than 18,500 points of light with LED technology, and a point-to-point telemanagement system, among other updates, with the aim of improving energy savings and efficiency.

At the awards ceremony held this Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at the Office of State for Digital Advancement in the Ministry of Economy and Business, the following were also in attendance: Rafael Fernández García, director of Innovation at Ferrovial; Elena Navarro González, chief of Innovation Projects; David Pocero Málaga, director of the Technical and Innovation Office; Javier Vaca de Osma Ulacia, director of Technology and Processes; Mónica Ramos Monge, Procurement and Fleet chief; and Pilar López Rodríguez, Communications and Marketing manager.
