Madrid, 24 March 2003
Ireland´s Department of Transport and National Roads Authority (NRA the body in charge of developing the country´s road plan) today signed the contract granting the concession for the N4/N6 Kinnegad Kilcock Motorway to a consortium comprising Cintra and Irish construction company SIAC.

The project the first toll road in Ireland to be funded, built and operated by the private sector is under a 30-year concession and represents a total investment of 400 million euros. Of that amount, 170 million euros are provided by the Irish government.

The N4/N6 motorway was awarded to Eurolink, a consortium made up of Cintra (93%) and Irish construction company SIAC, in November 2002. The road, 35 km of which will be newly built, is part of the corridor linking Dublin to the Northwest. Construction is due to commence in May 2003 under a joint venture formed by Ferrovial´s construction subsidiary and SIAC. The road is scheduled to be operational in 2006.

Another project in Ireland
Ferrovial, through its toll road concessions subsidiary Cintra, is shortlisted for another toll road in Ireland, one of ten roads in the 2000-2006 National Development Plan. The Irish government estimates that the project will cost between 63 and 126 million euros, and the concession will run for 30 years. The road will be 53 km long, including 11 km of newly constructed road. The project forms part of the N1 corridor linking Dublin and Belfast.

Infrastructure Ferrovial´s growth engine
Infrastructure continues to be one of Ferrovial´s main growth drivers, backed by a constantly growing market. Ferrovial is constantly seeking new projects in the OECD countries (mainly Europe and North America), where it is very active.

Ferrovial is one of the world leaders in the private sector development of infrastructure projects, with close to 2 billion euros in committed investments. Ferrovial currently manages 16 toll roads in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Chile and Canada, 12 airports handling over 40 million passengers in Australia, the UK, Mexico and Chile, and over 175,000 parking spaces in Spain.
